Worry as oil future looks bleak 131

Posted on by Just Diggers Newsdesk

The world is facing another crisis; with the peak flow of oil expected to run until 2012 at the latest plant developers are being urged to investigate hybrid technology to power their equipment and machinery. A stark message was given by the Committee for European Construction Equipment's (CECE) Congress when they insist that the rate of introduction of hybrid technologies must speed up.

Chris Skrebowski of Peak Oil Consulting informed delegates of the situation. Currently, oil supply is keeping pace with demand, but as existing reserves are exhausted, the smaller deposits being discovered won't keep pace with the growing demand.

Transport accounts for 50% to 75% of all oil use, which means that the impending shortfall will force the adoption of hybrid and alternative technologies - especially for surface transport on land, which is the easiest to switch to other forms of fuel.
